About Kai
Sport & Performance Psychology Background
Growing up in Trinidad and Tobago, I developed a deep love for sports and the mental game behind peak performance. This passion led me to become a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through AASP, and since 2012, I've had the privilege of working with hundreds of athletes and coaches from young players just starting their journey to Division I athletes and national teams.
As Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Performance Pursuit, my team and I help athletes, teams, and high performers develop the mental skills that make the difference between good and great. Whether it's building unshakeable confidence, managing performance anxiety, or developing laser focus, I believe every athlete has untapped potential waiting to be unleashed. My approach is simple: meet you where you are and help you get where you want to be, whether that's through in-person sessions or our innovative virtual consulting platform.
I've been fortunate to share my work at national conferences including AASP, United Soccer Coaches Convention, and the National Coaching Conference. Currently, I also serve as Senior Program Manager for Dominican University's sport psychology graduate program, where I train the next generation of performance consultants while staying on the cutting edge of our field.
Counseling & Therapy Background
My journey in mental health began over a decade ago when I became a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. This dual expertise in clinical counseling and sport psychology gives me a unique perspective in understanding that peak performance isn't just about mental toughness; it's about mental wellness.
Throughout my career, I've worn many hats: expanding evidence-based therapy programs across Virginia, serving as Regional Clinical Director at Sandstone Care, and creating an innovative integrated health program at the Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex that combined counseling, sport psychology, and nutrition services under one roof. I've also had the honor of teaching and supervising graduate students at Northwestern and Holy Names Universities.
What drives me most is seeing that "aha" moment when someone breaks through a barrier they thought was permanent. Whether you're an athlete struggling with performance anxiety, a team looking to improve cohesion, or someone pursuing excellence in any area of life, I'm here to help you write your success story. Currently completing my MBA at William & Mary, I bring both clinical expertise and business acumen to help you achieve sustainable, meaningful change.
